Day 2: Lake Skadar Kayak Expedition
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast, gearing up for your initial adventure: kayaking on the expansive Lake Skadar. Following a brief safety introduction and kayak handling tips, you’ll set out to explore the lake’s tranquil waters and vibrant wildlife.
Navigate through narrow channels covered in lilypads, while picturesque villages dot the shoreline. Take a leisurely break on a secluded beach before continuing your journey to Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital.
Accommodation awaits you in the heart of the historical centre, offering an authentic glimpse into local daily life.
Day 3: Scenic Train Journey & Biogradska Gora Hike
Rise with the sun for an early morning adventure in one of Europe’s most spectacular train lines, departing from Podgorica and winding its way to Kolasin.
Upon arrival, transfer to the trailhead for the day’s trek above the picturesque Biogradska Gora National Park. Following a satisfying lunch, launch a walk around the Biograd Lake, boasting panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges. As the day unfolds, immerse yourself in the simple and serene lifestyle of Montenegrin families as you arrive at a traditional mountain pasture.
Your overnight stay includes cosy accommodation in retro two-bed wooden cabins, featuring shared toilet and shower facilities – a rustic yet comfortable retreat amidst nature.
Day 4: Canyon Tara Exploration & Thrilling Rafting Adventure
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before diving into an optional excursion.
For those seeking an adrenaline rush, jump on a steep trail descent through ancient forests to Lake Biogradska Gora. From the lake banks, you will be transferred across the famed Tara Canyon (Europe’s deepest at 1300 metres), to the launching point of your exhilarating rafting expedition down the Tara River.
Alternatively, opt for a journey to the summit of Curevac, offering unparalleled vistas showcasing the sheer grandeur of the Tara Canyon for those preferring a different perspective. Later, reconvene and head towards the majestic landscapes of Durmitor National Park.
Day 5: Durmitor National Park Exploration
After a strong breakfast, choose your adventure for the day.
Walking Option A
Opt for a breathtaking hike to the summit of Crvena Greda, offering unparalleled vistas of Durmitor National Park. With each step, the scenery becomes increasingly inspiring, culminating in panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, including the majestic Bobotov Kuk, the park’s highest peak at 2,523 metres.
Enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch amidst this natural splendour before descending back to Zabljak.
Walking Option B
Alternatively, select a more relaxed tour around Snake Lake and Black Lake, featuring easy, almost flat walking amidst beautiful scenery.
Take advantage of picturesque bays along the trail for a refreshing swim in the Black Lake, rejuvenating your spirits.
For those seeking an adrenaline rush, embark on an optional canyoning adventure in Canyon Nevidio, nestled in the southern area of Durmitor National Park. Marvel at the stunning entrance surrounded by glacial lakes and a waterfall as you navigate through the canyon’s challenging Grade 2-3 terrain.
Return to your accommodation in Zabljak after a thrilling day of exploration.
Day 6: Scenic Drive, Zip-lining, and Sea Kayaking
Bid farewell to the peaks of Durmitor as we embark on a panoramic drive along the famous Durmitor Ring, treating you to breathtaking vistas at every turn.
Descending into the valley of Piva Lake, you’ll encounter another natural wonder – an impressive canyon. Thrill-seekers can opt for an exhilarating ride on Montenegro’s longest zip-line, soaring over Lake Piva for an adrenaline rush like no other.
After a short visit to the peaceful Piva Monastery, we venture to Perast, a captivating baroque town nestled in the Bay of Kotor, where you can enjoy your first refreshing dip in the Adriatic Sea.
Take time to explore Perast and its iconic landmark, islet ‘Our Lady of the Rock’, opting for an unforgettable sunset sea kayaking excursion to the island (optional). As the evening descends, we transfer you to Kotor for a relaxing night in this historic coastal gem.
Day 7: Budva, St Stefan, Cetinje, and the Epic Descent of the Ladder of Kotor
Board on a journey through history and beauty as we explore the treasures of the coastal town of Budva and capture the iconic silhouette of Saint Stefan, once a humble fishing village now transformed into a luxurious hotel-town peninsula.
Further, delve into the rich past of Montenegro as we visit Cetinje, the Old Royal Capital, where tales of the 19th-century kingdom come to life.
Prepare for an exhilarating cycling adventure as we navigate the serpentine road, descending from a lofty 1350 metres above sea level to the ancient walls of Kotor. Each twist and turn unveils a breathtaking panorama of Boka Bay, creating unforgettable memories.
